Genetic Testing

Genetic Testing (Preimplantation Genetic Testing)

Promote a healthy pregnancy by testing your embryos before they’re implanted.

What is preimplantation genetic testing (PGT)?

Egg freezing is a process in which eggs are retrieved from the ovaries and preserved for future use. You may choose to delay parenthood for any number of reasons, whether it’s professional goals, family medical history, or simply a desire to have a child later in life. Egg freezing can also be a valuable resource for those undergoing medical treatments that can impact fertility.

How PGT Treatment works

After your embryos grow for 5-6 days in our lab, our embryologists will biopsy your embryos and send the sample to a PGT lab, to run one or more of the following tests:

PGT-A (Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy)

This chromosomal test will help to decrease the chances of implantation issues or miscarriage, and can help detect chromosomal abnormalities. With this test it’s also possible to determine the sex of the embryo if you carry a genetic risk of sex-linked disease, or for other personal reasons.

PGT-M (Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Monogenic Disorders)

This genetic test is helpful for couples in which one or both partners are carriers of genetic mutations that could result in the baby having a monogenic disorder.

PGT-SR (Preimplantation Genetic Testing for a Structural Rearrangement)

This is a test that screens for structural issues in the chromosomes that form an abnormal embryo and will almost always result in miscarriage.
